The handbook contains information about dress code, attendance and tardy policies, academic programming and much more. Please use this file as your go-to guide. The 2025-2026 Student & Parent Handbook contains several updates. They have been highlighted for your reference.
Dress Code
π― Purpose of the Dress Code:
Encourage neatness, discipline, and a sense of school identity
Maintain a learning-focused environment without fashion distractions
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Enforcement:
Parents: Ensure students leave home dressed properly
Teachers/Admin: Monitor and enforce dress code at school
Consequences: Violations can result in detentions or being held from class until dress code violation is corrected
π General Guidelines:
All clothing must be clean, neat, and fit properly (no holes, large stains, or excessively wrinkled)
No coats, sweatshirts or hoodies worn in classrooms
Hair must be clean and properly styled (no extreme hairstyles)
Pants and Polos- one color with no stripes or contrasting trim
Plain white t-shirts or turtlenecks may be worn under polos
Dress code is enforced all day
π Make-Up & π Jewelry:
No makeup; parents will be contacted if seen wearing it to school
Girls may wear fingernail polish (not distracting)
Girls (Grades 3β8): Small earrings (no hoops), religious necklaces, watches
Boys: No earrings; may wear simple rings, religious necklaces, watches
No Smart Watches that have data or internet connection
Uniform Items:
π Pants & Shorts:
Navy blue or tan khaki only (no outside pockets)
Khaki colored jeans are not permitted
Must have belt loops and belts (no beading, rhinestone or large belt buckles)
No jeans, corduroy, cargo, carpenter, or low-cut pants
No stretchy/elastic waist pants
Shorts must be an appropriate length
π©³ Skorts (Grades Kβ4 girls):
Solid navy or khaki
Must be school-appropriate in length
π Shirts:
Solid red, white, or navy polo shirts with collars
Approved St. Philip polos with embroidered logo (black, white or green)
Black and green polos without the logo are not permitted
Long/short sleeve polos or turtlenecks
Shirts must be tucked in; only the top button may be undone
No unapproved logos, designs, lettering, or tight/sheer shirts
π Shoes:
Grades Kβ3: Athletic shoes only
Grades 4β8: Tennis shoes suggested
No sandals, crocs, boots, slippers, or high heels
π§₯ Sweaters:
Solid red, white, or navy cardigans/pullovers
Must be worn over a uniform shirt
π§£ Outerwear:
Jackets/sweatshirts: Allowed outside or to/from church only (not in class or Mass)
St. Philip Black Fleece/Track Jacket: Allowed in class and at church
𧦠Socks/Tights:
Must be worn and visible
Should not be distracting or have excessive designs
π Free Dress Days:
First Monday of each month
Must still be school-appropriate in style, length, and content
No inappropriate graphics or messaging
Boots may be worn (3-8); socks and shoes required
π§ββοΈ Leggings/Jeggings:
Must not be too tight
Long tops required
Admin may require a change if deemed inappropriate
π« Not Allowed:
Sleeveless/cut-out shirts, tank tops, muscle shirts
Short shorts or clothing with holes
Exposed torsos
Shirts with inappropriate content
Visible ink or body drawings
π£ Spirit Days:
Third Monday of each month (unless noted)
St. Philip spirit shirts or solid green/white shirts
Bottoms: Uniform pants/shorts or neat jeans/jean shorts (no frays/cut-offs)
π½ Theme Shirt Days:
Current yearβs theme shirt + uniform pants or jeans
No leggings or sweatpants
Teachers and administrators deem the right to decide what is or is not appropriate.
