Second grade is an exciting year full of learning, fun, and special memories! Some of the most important times in second grade include preparing for and celebrating the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. As second graders, we also become better readers and practice our writing, grammar, and spelling skills each day. We read lots of books and take Accelerated Reader quizzes. We learn and practice math skills like adding and subtracting with and without regrouping, fractions, telling time, counting money, geometry, probability, and problem solving. We use the IXL app to show what we've learned in Math and Language Arts. Another exciting part of second grade is learning to read and write in cursive. We become scientists, exploring plant and animal life cycles, air and weather patterns, and ideas of balance and motion. We learn about city, state, and national governments, our location on the map, and how to be good citizens. We learn about the Holy Trinity, parts of the Mass, and study stories from the Bible. We pray every day, visit the Eucharistic Adoration chapel, and learn to pray the rosary. We look forward to our special classes each day, as well, including Gym, Art, Music, Technology, and Library. Our days are busy, but so much fun! Second grade rocks!
