About our Teacher
Hello, my name is Denny Hargett and this is
my second year to teach 5th through 8th grade science at St. Philip
School. I am also the homeroom teacher for the 5th grade. I
grew up in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1967.
I attended Purdue University until my family moved to Florida. I
graduated from the University of Florida majoring in Wildlife Ecology
and was commissioned an officer in the US Air Force in 1971. I
retired from active duty in 1992 and moved back here to be near family.
I've been happily married for 37 years to my wife Jenifer. We have
3 grown sons, Nathan, Nick, and Tim. I worked part-time at Hovey
Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area for 6 years and substitute taught in
Posey County beginning in 2001 before I started the USI
"Transition-to-Teaching" program. I look forward to teaching the
5th through 8th graders this year.
