~Welcome to our Preschool~
Pre-School Building

This fall marks the beginning of St. Philip Pre-School’s 14th year.  Our goal at St Philip Pre-School is to show children that school is a fun place to be.  We want your child to wake up every morning asking, “Is today a school day?”  We accomplish this goal by providing children with a safe, nurturing, and loving environment where they can explore and learn without undue pressure.  We let children be children.

We, Miss Connie and Miss Cathy, appreciate and encourage every child’s individuality and creativity.  We work together to create lessons that develop skills necessary for success in the children’s upcoming school year.  Learning independence, working and playing in groups, listening while others are speaking, interacting positively with peers and adults, following directions, and adjusting to changes in routines are just a few of the important skills children develop by attending St. Philip Pre-School.

Each day emphasizes having fun while learning colors, shapes, numbers and alphabet letters.
A typical day in the Pre-School classroom begins with free play, free art time, and computer time.  The day continues with circle and calendar time, weather forecasting, snack, and a group activity.  We also have story time and music time where we sing and dance.  On special days we play in the front yard or have show and tell.

We believe field trip experiences are important and we schedule several each year.  The field trips come to our classroom and include: a firefighter with his fire truck, a registered nurse, a dental hygienist, a postal worker, and a police officer.  Other visitors include the Evansville Blind Association, who perform a screening for Amblyopia (lazy eye), and the Bookmobile librarian who visits the Pre-Kindergarten class twice each month. In addition, Posey County Special Services provides screening and free speech therapy to children who may benefit from these services, at the parents’ request.  Finally, our year concludes with a graduation program for the Pre-Kindergarten children.

Please feel free to call us (Miss Connie and Miss Cathy) at 985-2447 if you have questions about our program at St. Philip Preschool.

St. Philip Pre-School Philosophy
St.
Philip Pre-School
believes in providing an environment, which encourages spiritual, academic, emotional, physical and social development.  We facilitate a nurturing environment in a home-based atmosphere so our children feel loved and safe.  We provide a “hands on experience” such as field trips in the classroom so the children are actively engaged in their early childhood curriculum.  It is our intent to develop activities and themes that surround the interest of the child.  Above all, we model a Christian environment in our daily lives.
