About Our Teacher

My name is Linda Norton and I was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, I attended the University of Evansville after graduating from Memorial High School in 1971.  While at the university, I earned a degree in Secondary Education with a major in English and a minor in Social Studies.  I began my teaching career at Washington Catholic Middle School in Washington, Indiana, teaching language arts and religion.  After four years, I returned to Evansville where I married Tom Norton and accepted a teaching position at St. Philip School where I taught English to grades five through eight and literature to grades seven and eight, I started my years here in a seventh grade homeroom with Sr. Mary Hilary as my principal.  In August of 1980, I completed work on my Master’s degree at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.  As the next school year started, I moved to the eighth grade homeroom.  I have remained as the eighth grade teacher since then, teaching language arts, social studies, art, and religion throughout my years here.  During my twenty-eight years at St. Philip, Tom and I have been blessed with two children, the youngest, Andy, graduating from St. Philip School in 2007.  I currently teach seventh and eighth grade language arts and eighth grade religion and help coach the speech team.
