About Our Teacher
I am very
eager and excited about beginning my 18th year of teaching with the
first graders at St. Philip School! I married my high school
sweetheart in June 1990.
Brad and I are 1986 graduates of Ridgway
High School in
Southern Illinois and have two children Emily and Carter!
I attended
University
of Southern Indiana
and graduated with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in
Mathematics. I received my Masters of Education with a Math
concentration a few years later from Indiana State University;
I also added a Computer Education endorsement from USI. I began my
teaching career in Fall 1990 with Westside Catholic Schools.
I spent 10 enjoyable years teaching at WCCS in the following
areas, 7-8 Math, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, K-4 PE, and 1st-4th
Art!!! I explored teaching
in the public school and accepted a
one year temporary position as 4th grade Gifted & Talented
teacher at Hebron
Elementary School. The last
six years of my teaching experience were at
Resurrection
School, which is my home
parish. Here, I have taught
6th grade Language Arts & Health, maintained and updated the school
library, and most recently, spent the last several years as Technology
Coordinator. Eager to have
a classroom of my own again, I sought out other job opportunities!
While it was difficult for me to leave Resurrection, I was ready to
experience new teaching opportunities and the challenge and excitement
of teaching first graders!
